You will soon be able to fly from Dubai to London in just 29 minutes
Elon Musk, the mastermind behind Tesla, is looking to transport guests from Dubai to London in just 29 minutes.
The South African born innovator announced his plans just last week at a conference in Adelaide, Australia. During the meeting, Musk revealed that he aims to use rockets to transport users from anywhere on Earth to a point of their choosing in under an hour. The SpaceX mission, Earth to Earth, will see guests in Dubai fly to distant areas like London in 29 minutes and Sydney, Australia in just 40 minutes.
Musk revealed that once complete, the BFR rockets will be able to fly at a whopping speed of 27,000 km/hr (17,000 mph). This, would mean that a hypersonic trip from New York to Shanghai would take 39 minutes, down from the current nonstop time of about 15 hours while, a trip from Los Angles to Toronto would take just 24 minutes.
The 46-year-old innovator also revealed that the price of using the proposed means of travel will be roughly the same as booking an economy fare with an airline.
Work has already started on project with the company hoping to complete a pair of BFRs by 2022.
This isn’t the first time that Musk has shocked the world with his many ingenious ideas. Aside from being eco-friendly, his infamous Tesla vehicles were among the first in the world to be fully autonomous.
And, can now be seen on the roads of Dubai. In fact, Tesla Sedan S and X models are now a part of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority’s taxi fleet.
Introduced to the Dubai taxi fleet just last month, the Tesla Sedan X has been described as the safest, fastest and most capable sport utility vehicle on the road.
It can go from a speed of 0kph to 100kph in just 3.1 seconds and can seat seven. It also has the largest all-glass panoramic windshield in production. Not bad considering that one car of this model costs a cool AED344,000.
The Tesla S can accelerate from 0kph to 100kph in just 2.7 seconds. When fully charged, it can travel a range of 632km and has a 17 inch touch screen. A single Tesla S costs just over AED275,000.
That’s not all, both models have the option of going fully autonomous, which means that not only will the car be able to drive on its own, it will also be able to so in a matter than is safer than human driver.
