Dubai Airport’s busiest weekend of the year is approaching
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, or so the song goes, but it’s also the busiest time of year, especially for airports. December brings increased air traffic and hordes of passengers and, as you’d expect, Dubai International Airport is going to be packed.
According to Emirates Airline, this is the busiest week of 2016, as they expect 307,000 passengers to pass through Emirates’ Concourses and Terminal 3 between December 14 and 17. Apparently the crowds will reach their peak on Friday December 16.
The airline is advising customers to get to the airport at least three hours before their flight takes off, leaving plenty of time to get to the airport if there’s heavy traffic. Check-in opens six hours before departure… just in case you fancy getting there really early, but we’re guessing not. There will be extra Emirates staff around Terminal 3 to help the large crowds.
Tips to beat the queues:
- Check-in online. You can check-in to an Emirates flight between 48 hours and 90 minutes before your flight. If you forget, there’s also an Emirates App that
you can use while you’re on your way to the airport, or self-service kiosks once you get there.
- Use the family check-in area. There’s a designated check-in area for families at Area 2 in Terminal 3.
- UAE Nationals and residents with an Emirates ID – you can skip the immigration queue by making use of the automated immigration gates at Terminal 3.
- Get there early. Make sure you pass through security checks no later than 60 minutes before your flight departs, as boarding with begin 45 minutes before departure.
