World in a Lens is a project started by Italian photographer Davide Carnevale. The 36-year-old began by taking pictures of landmarks using a mobile phone and an olloclip lens. The images gained a big response, so he decided to reach out to people across the world and ask them to contribute a picture.

The results can be seen on Carnevale’s Facebook page – a miniature look at iconic buildings and locations. Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal, the Colosseum, Eiffel Tower and recently Dubai’s Burj Al Arab.

All the pictures are being collected for a book that will raise money for charities.

Explaining how the project began in Rome, Carnevale said: “I had this small lens between my fingers when I realized that it was perfectly framing the coliseum in miniature. I took my phone and tried to take the best shot so that the whole coliseum was clearly depicted in the lens and the background was blurry, out of focus.”

“After a few months, I realized that my project was raising media attention so I decided that this game could become something useful, important and entertaining at the same time. My idea is to collect pictures from all over the world.”

If you want to take part in the project, send an email to dc@davidecarnevale.com including a picture of one of the important monuments in your city (you can check if it hasn’t been covered yet on this map).  Add some information such as city name, region, and monument name. Your name and picture will be published online and in the photo book "World in a Lens" that will be printed when the world has been photographed.

Happy snapping!
