Temperatures in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi crashed to just 10 degrees Celsius this morning, as the cold snap in the UAE took full effect.

The next few days will see day time temperatures in Abu Dhabi struggle to cross 20 degrees, with dips close to 12 in the early hours. Most experts are predicting at least another 10 days of cold weather.

On Saturday morning, the lowest temperature recorded in the UAE was less than zero. The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) tweeted in the early hours of Saturday morning to say that on Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah they had clocked a temperature of -0.3 degrees Celsius.

Over the weekend, elsewhere in the UAE there were lows of 14 and highs of 26 degrees Celsius. Some mountainous areas reached lows of a chilly 8 degrees.

Over the next few days we can expect the weather to remain breezy, with daytime temperatures of between 16 and 22. The NCMS weather report predicts partly cloudy weather over the next few days, with humidity bringing a chance of mist and fog. The Arabian Gulf is expected to be quite rough for the time being.

Some medium range forecasts are predicting rain in parts of the UAE on Thursday evening, but we’ll give you an update on that closer to the weekend.
