UAE temperatures set to plunge
At long last, you can soon put on those winter jumpers you got for Christmas. Temperatures in the UAE are about to seriously drop.
North and north-easterly winds are heading towards the entire Gulf region, which is expected to bring a cold spell lasting nearly two weeks. The centre of the cold snap will be Saudi Arabia, but all Gulf countries are likely to feel the chill.
Here in the UAE, watch out for a rapid change on Friday – especially in Dubai where daytime temperatures will significantly drop from the mid-twenties to 19 degrees Celsius. Over the next few days, it will struggle to get above 20c.
Stormy weather could start as early as Thursday in Dubai, and for the next ten days, it could get extremely could (by Dubai standards) in the evenings, with temperatures between 13c to 15c. The BBC weather channel is predicting temperatures as low as just 11c on Sunday evening, possibly even down to 10c by the first week of February.
The good news is there is no immediate sign of heavy rain, but that could also change.
But guess what? In about five weeks’ time, temperatures are going to start slowly rising again as we head into Spring and the long, long hot summer again.
