No New Year Holiday for UAE workers
January 1 is a paid public holiday for the UAE workforce, however, this year it falls on a Friday. Although this holiday is sometimes transferred to another day, giving office workers a long weekend, this year The Federal Authority for Human Resources announced that this will not be the case.
Emirates 24|7 reported that The Federal Authority for Human Resources said that the public holiday will remain on January 1 2016, which is a day off for most people in the UAE anyway.
We do have another public holiday approaching though, as December 24 marks the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). This means that most of the UAE will have a three-day weekend this week.
