Just when we thought that the Dubai World Cup could not possibly beat their closing ceremony last year – hello, Janet Jackson performed – they announce that Sia will be this year’s show closer.

The 41-year-old “Chandelier” hit-maker will be performing at the Meydan Racecourse on March 25. Okay, now can we just say that we have been waiting for this for a very VERY long time?

In case, we seem a bit over excited, let us explain why this is such a big deal. Let’s start with the event itself shall we? The Dubai World Cup is the richest horse race in the world – we’re talking big money, like AED36 million if you want to put on a number on it.

It’s not just the race, the crowd plays a big part too. Some of the biggest names in the world of sports and showbiz have attended such as Kylie Minogue, Elizabeth Hurley and footballer Peter Crouch. It also attracts a ton of international and national royalty, so expats and locals looking for their snap with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, might just be able to do so there.

Back to the entertainment, which for some is the highlight of the event. As previously mentioned Sia will be performing, which is totally awesome ‘cause now we’ll get to hear all of her mega-hits like “The Greatest”, “Alive”, “Chandelier” – duh – and “Cheap Thrills” live.

Aside from her performance which we’re sure is gonna be a sight to see, we’re looking forward to her stage production and of course to seeing the dancing sensation that is Maddie Ziegler – if you’re new to the party, she’s the girl in the all the videos.
