What’s that we hear? It’s the sound of cheering all over the UAE as a whopping four-day weekend has been announced.

Yes, we’ve been gifted a long weekend this December, as The UAE Council of Ministers has marked December 2 and 3 as both public and private sector holidays.

South African rugby team 2017 win

So forget about spending all your Christmas money jetting off to the likes of Ibiza or Berlin because the biggest party of the weekend is happening at The Sevens Stadium right here in Dubai. The 49th edition of the popular showcase is going big with a brand new festival feel that’s sure to take the tournament to new heights.

For the first time ever, three distinct areas (the Green Room, Green Space and Green Tavern) will be set up for that full music festival experience alongside the incredible rugby action.

To get us even more pumped for the three day extravaganza, here’s what we’re looking forward to the most...

So Solid Crew Romeo Dunn and Lisa Maffia

Lisa Maffia and Romeo’s set
Who doesn’t love a bit of old school garage? So Solid Crew members Lisa Maffia and Romeo will be performing hits such as 21 Seconds as well as a selection of crowd pleasers to keep the dancefloor pumping. They’re the headline act of a free party that takes place on Thursday night. You definitely don’t want to miss this one.

Candypant’s takeover
The world wide party institute and Dubai favourite will be taking over the Green Room stage on Friday night. International DJs Tango x Willow will be flying in for the one-night event, so you know Candypants has got something jaw-dropping up its sleeve.

Rugby legend Martin Offiah’s silent disco
We’re counting down to the moment we see hundreds of people partying away in near-silence, headphones tightly grasped to their heads. To keep the blood pumping while the matches play out, DJ and rugby legend Martin Offiah will be hosting a giant silent disco and we can’t wait.

Details: Friday 3.30pm, November 29, Green Room

House Party’s hub
A home for partygoers across the entire weekend, Fairmont Dubai’s House Party will fuse retro tunes with current day hits in the Green Tavern. If you’ve ever stepped into the brilliant venue, you’ll know why we’re excited to see the retro setup and tunes at this year’s Dubai Sevens. Bring your glow sticks and neon outfits for this one.

Tribute acts
There are several tribute acts scheduled to perform in the Green Space, and we can’t decide which we’re more excited to sing our lungs out to. It’s either We Will Rock You from Queen act, Flash or Faux-asis’ cover of Oasis classic Wonderwall. Decisions, decisions…

Details: Friday and Saturday night, Green Space.

Love Parties’ show
Yes, the talented bunch behind Hidden Brunch and Love Tuesdays are rallying up the crowds for a party that will go down in Dubai Sevens history. The home-grown party organisers will be take over the Green Room all day Saturday for an eclectic mix of party tunes and performances.

Clockwork Orange
We’ll take any opportunity to sport the 90s gear that’s been making a comeback recently, but we can’t think of a more apt time than this. London-born clubbing brand Clockwork Orange will be upping the tempo come Saturday night, laser beams and disco lights included. Is there a better way to end the weekend? Not a chance.
