People are often braced at their computer screens waiting for the news when official holidays are called in the UAE. However, it seems that you shouldn’t have to worry about how many days off you get from one year to the next.

During a live Q&A on the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s Facebook page, Mohammed Mubarak, Director of Labour Relations at the Ministry In Dubai, said that all employees in the private sector are entitled to ten paid days holiday per year from the UAE’s official holiday calendar.

The ministry regularly respond to labour law questions via their Facebook page, and direct people to the correct department or company to deal with their query.

Here are the official holidays on the UAE calendar (please note that many of these dates are expected and are subject to change based on moon sighting).

New Year’s Day – January 1

Isra and Miraj day - April 24

Eid Al Fitr (two days)  - June 25

Eid Al Adha (three days) - September 1

Hijri New Year's Day (Islamic calendar) - September 21

Birth of the Prophet (PBUH) and Martyrs' Day - November 30
