Virgin becomes UAE’s third mobile operator
The choice of mobile operators in the UAE is about to increase, as Virgin Mobile is set to become the country’s third telecommunications company. Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (EITC), the holding company for du, will launch the new brand, according to EITC’s chief executive Osman Sultan.
EITC will own, operate and manage Virgin Mobile in the UAE, meaning that it will use the network and infrastructure currently used by du.
Speaking at a press conference, Sultan told reporters that the brand would be in operation “within weeks”.
