We love a good Uber ride. The captains are great, the cars are clean and most cars have chargers, which is a definite plus.

And, according to Reuters’ latest report, it looks like the car-hailing app could be making its long awaited return to the capital – yaaas.

“We are in talks, things are progressing,” the general manager of The Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars Mohamed Darwish al-Qamzi, explained.

He added that he is positive that the service would make its return, however he isn’t sure as to when.

If you’re new to the nation, here’s what you missed…

Uber suspended its services in Abu Dhabi in 2016. While the exact reason for its sudden halt was never officially announced, reports by The National suggest that the app’s price point and licensing of drivers were two of the main factors (unlike Dubai, only professional limo drivers are allowed to transport passengers in the capital).

Uber announced the news in an official statement which read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will suspend operations in Abu Dhabi effective immediately till further notice. In the meantime, we will keep you informed when operations resume. Thanks for your understanding and apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
