Paid parking is coming to Dubai’s JLT district

We’ve got some bad news for all those who work and have friends in Jumeirah Lake Towers, you will soon no longer be able to enjoy the magic of free parking…

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has officially announced that it will be introducing paid parking to the area, with some 1,93 parking spots set to become paid by the end of 2017.

According to RTA officials, the initiative an attempt to “enhance the overall community experience and make mobility across the JLT district easier and smoother.”

The new initiative will see premium parking slots cost a cool AED10 an hour which will only available for three hours. Regular spots will cost AED4 per hour, with no time limit.

People of determination will still receive free parking

While residents of the area will no longer receive seasonal parking permits as they are provided with free parking within their building.

“Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in today’s world, and Jumeirah Lakes Towers is one of its most exciting and busiest districts. Providing smart, efficient and high quality solutions for the people of Dubai has been high on the government’s agenda,” the CEO of the RTA, Maitha Bin Adai explains.
Speaking on the news, the executive chairman of DMCC, Ahmed Bin Sulayem said: “Jumeirah Lakes Towers is a vibrant community, where over 92,500 people live and work every day.

“As a master developer of the community, we continuously seek to provide new solutions that will make everyday life in JLT more convenient and efficient for everyone.”

The news comes shortly after Propertyfinder.com named the area Dubai’s top performing rental area.

According to the report, JLT beat out the demand of areas like Dubai Marina, Downtown Dubai and Sports City to become the most sought after property location in Dubai.

“Traffic flow and amenities in JLT have steadily improved over recent years. JLT is home to several parks, many restaurants and interesting small businesses as well as two metro stations,” the report read.

“And you still get eight percent more space for your dirham in JLT compared to Dubai Marina,” it added.
