Qatari-owned sports channel beIn sports is now off-air in the UAE. Telecommunications provider du confirmed the news via Twitter, explaining that customers can cancel their subscription without penalties.

Etislalat and Du customers took to Twitter on Monday evening to vent their frustration at not being able to access the channel.

Twitter user Reem Abulleil wrote: “Tennis fans in UAE unable to watch #RG17 due to suspension of beIN Sports in wake of political tension w Qatar.”

While Matt Burn said: “@dutweets any word on whether BEIN sports will return to air? Currently all channels not working.”

Du responded to say, “we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this,” and to confirm “beIn channels are currently off-air in the UAE. We will inform customers once the service is restored.”

The provider is currently allowing customers to cancel their subscription with no penalty.

BeIn Sports channels are also unavailable on Etisalat.
